Back in 1981 Peter Yarmouth met GG Allin and they became good friends. In late 1983 after collaborating on a few cassette only releases GG asked Peter to fund the “Live Fast Die Fast” single and that became the birth of Black & Blue Records. Over the next few years through national advertising Peter negotiated and funded and through shady distribution that many times ended up with Peter getting burned for thousands of dollars of non payment or bankruptcy protection, GG Allin became somewhat famous or should I say infamous. That all led to GG moving on to many different record companies, NONE of which ever promoted or advertised his records and CDs more than Peter and Black & Blue Records did. But that did not stop many of them from claiming the opposite as the pot loves to call the kettle black (or Black & Blue if you will). Peter has been silent to his critics for decades saying “The people that matter know the truth”. Well I ain’t Peter and it’s about time somebody fired back against the bullshit!
GG’s ambition and touring along with the advertising and promotion from Black & Blue, helped GG begin his rise to King Of The Underground where he still remains today. His catalog size of records, CDs and Video rival some of the world’s best selling artists; his internet presence takes a back seat to nobody!
In 1986 Peter took the chance on other bands, beginning with Algae Afterbirth, and soon the label had an identity of its own that it still has today. Music To Make Your Ears Hurt became the label mantra and it still rings on!
Flying ahead to 2009, Peter and his new Vice President for the label Geoffrey Nice have relaunched Black & Blue Records with Peter handling the East Coast and Geoffrey on the West Coast of the US of A and watch out folks Black & Blue is now retooled for the 21st century.
Check out the artists both old and new and I’m sure you’ll find something to love especially if you are one that strays away from the mainstream corporate music scene. Uncompromising As Ever and always shall it be that you will find some unique, raw, non conforming, and eardrum splitting music that will never be accused of being commercial!
